Congratulations to Chiltern Primary School - Eco Schools Green Flag Award #2

Congratulations to Chiltern Primary School on their second consecutive Green Flag award. This is what the Eco Schools Assessors had to say

"Fantastic work Miss Gibson & Chiltern Primary School!

We are very pleased to tell you that you and your Eco-Committee at Chiltern Primary School have been successful in meeting the requirements for the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award.

We reviewed your application and noted the following:

We loved reading about how your Eco-Committee members have taken responsibility for keeping minutes. This shows how you are empowering and supporting your young people to develop brilliant communication skills and fostering a sense of ownership of their work. We would, however, love to have seen an example of your minutes to better understand your planning process.

Excellent job on your Environmental Review! The content gives clear guidance on practical and tangible actions that can improve the sustainability of your school. What really stood out is how you sought input from diverse school stakeholders, such as the teachers, cooks and your Site Manager, which demonstrates your commitment to a collaborative and inclusive approach.

We love the variety of activities that you and your Eco-Committee have included in the Action Plan. This will no doubt support multi-disciplinary skills and shows how integrated environmentalism is in your school. It’s brilliant to see that your actions are designed for young people to deliver and lead, empowering them and increasing their confidence. We enjoyed reading about how you incorporated learning about plants into your science curriculum.

Your topics are engaging and provide a practical context and application for your pupils’ learning. A goal for next year might be to embed these topics across a broader range of subjects, such as the arts or English.

Your Eco-Committee have made great efforts to keep both the school community up-to-date on its progress and its achievements through assemblies and your very professional Junior Leadership Team delegates. It’s brilliant to read how your fantastic community work was recognised by Food for Life and your parent quote is testament to the positive impact this has had on your pupils and their families. Terrific work!

We have no doubt that this, and the way you have inspired your young people to contribute positively to the environment and their community through your immensely successful food waste campaign must be an immense source of pride for you all Chiltern.

Congratulations on earning your Green Flag accreditation!"
